Warner-Lugar - New War Authorization
Fri Jul 13, 2007 at 04:36:40 PM PDT
Today Warner and Lugar presented an amendment for a new War Authorization Bill.
The details are sketchy right now but the one glaring thing that sticks out to me is that they want Bush to present a new plan.

The Dirty Little Secret Of The DP World Deal
Wed Feb 22, 2006 at 08:40:27 AM PDT
Last night I went to bed wondering just why Bush was so ultra-quick to pull the trigger on threatening a veto. There had to be a reason I said to myself. Before dozing off I realized that this was not a `deal' that took place between Britain and the UAE and was subsequently approved in 25 days by a rubber stamp group of people in our government. I thought this just had to be a deal we were in on from the start that without our blessings would have never gone through.
So I decided to do a little research in the morning and see what I could dig up.
See What I found...

NEW DEVELOPMENT: CIA Begins Probe Into Leak On Secret Prisons
Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 08:11:02 PM PDT
The CIA has referred the leak to the justice department - yes, just as they did the Plame outing. The Justice Department will decide whether to initiate a criminal investigation.
The Washington Post had no comment on the matter. Wow! Could this be the beginning of another 1st Amendment case for the press? Will Dana Priest be asked to give up her source.
Additionally Harry Reid said the House and Senate committees with normal jurisdiction should conduct any hearings, not a bicameral committee as suggested in the letter of the two Republican leaders.
Nancy Pelosi said any such joint investigation should also investigate possible manipulation of prewar intelligence on Iraq.
"If Speaker Hastert and Majority Leader Frist are finally ready to join Democrats' demands for an investigation of possible abuses of classified information, they must direct the House and Senate Intelligence Committees to investigate all aspects of that issue," said Pelosi.
So the Dems are piling on this one too to our advantage. Way to go!!!

John Dean: "Having read the indictment , I believe more will be issued.

A Cheney-Libby Conspiracy, Or Worse? Reading Between the Lines of the Libby Indictment
By John Dean
"In my last column, I tried to deflate expectations a bit about the likely consequences of the work of Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald; to bring them down to the realistic level at which he was likely to proceed. I warned, for instance, that there might not be any indictments, and Fitzgerald might close up shop as the last days of the grand jury's term elapsed. And I was certain he would only indict if he had a patently clear case.
Now, however, one indictment has been issued -- naming Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby as the defendant, and charging false statements, perjury and obstruction of justice. If the indictment is to be believed, the case against Libby is, indeed, a clear one.
Having read the indictment against Libby, I am inclined to believe more will be issued. In fact, I will..."
